I was born in Prague, Czech Republic and lived in Geneva before moving to the United States with my family at the age of 8. After a few years in the California Bay Area we moved to Seattle where I attended high school and the University of Washington.Â
My background in in still photography and I got my start rather late, as the photo editor of the college yearbook. After graduating, I moved back to Prague for a few years (like many Americans did!), traveled throughout Europe, freelanced for a variety of publications and worked as photo editor for the Prague Post.Â
Upon returning to the states I became a staff photographer at a small daily newspaper in southern New Mexico, where I won numerous awards from the Associated Press, and now I am a wedding photographer and filmmaker based in Santa Fe.
Years ago I started to recognize the power of video with clips shot with the movie mode of a Fuji 602 digital camera, editing in Adobe Premiere (I have since moved to FCP) and I think it’s kind of funny that it’s actually the movie mode of another still camera, the Canon 5D Mark II, that is now fueling my passion for video!

Thanks Jones for interviewing Vlad and showing us what he can do. I laughed, I learned and I can’t wait to see the rest of the reel with you two.
BTW, coming back to San Francisco soon?
