Red Rock Micro shoulder mount and Zacuto Z-Finder with 5D Mark II

Red Rock Micro & Zacuto Z-Finder from Vladimir Chaloupka on Vimeo.

I love the Red Rock Micro shoulder mount because there are so many ways to customize it to your needs. This short video shows just a couple possible ways. The first one is a pretty extensive set up which includes a Sony PCM-D50 audio recorder, a Frezzi Mini Fill and Zacuto Z-Finder. For my style I think it draws a bit too much attention to itself, so the second configuration is what I I’ll use for weddings, mounting the audio recorder to the camera hot shoe, and replacing the Frezzi with something like the Litepanels MicroPro LED light.

The key is to mount the handlebar clamp upside down to raise the handlebar rods above the main iris rods, and then to add two micro-mounts to the left handlebar rod, two four-inch rods and an additional rod clamp to position the camera in a good position to see the viewfinder using the Zacuto Z-Finder (I also added a Bogen 577 adapter and 501 PL quick release plate).
