Hey Folks!  Joey here from 31Films. I’m writing today to inform you of an incredible new plug-in for FCP.

This has to be one of my favorite plug-ins ever!

Let’s be honest here, what is the most time consuming and boring part of editing?  Syncing several video cams and audio sources captured from a CD or whatever.  You’re all ready to dive into the edit, but you’ve got to create multiclips – what a drag!!!

And the worst is when you’ve had multiple cameras running, but have had to stop and start recording to switch tapes or switch out cards (Canon 5D)…you have to find sync points for all the many clips.

But alas, the pain of sync’ing is a thing of the past with….drum roll please…PLURALEYES

PLURALEYES is an incredible plug-in that will take different audio and video clips and analyze and auto-sync them.  You heard me right… I said AUTO-SYNC!

Just lay the clips on separate tracks, hit the sync button, and like Emeril (or is it Billy Mays says), BOOM, in a comparatively short amount of time, it creates the multiclip for ya.

I am in the middle of cutting a bunch of 5D footage with over an hour of interview and audio captured from a second source.  This plug-in will literally save me hours of work!

To be fair, there are a few negatives of PLURALEYES, but the positives blow the negatives out of the water.  One small concern that I have is that I can’t set in and out points on a clip and sync just that portion of it.  I have to use the entire clip.

So, I use the “create new clip on start/stop” in the clip settings inside log and capture window. I do this for the ceremony and the formal dance tapes.

I can even go so far as to put all of my clips to sync from the entire day on one timeline and 20min later, they are all synced, nice and pretty.

I have only just began to use the plug-in, but for me it works like a charm.  BOOM!!! “What have you got to lose!”
