"At our seminar in KC you talked about contracting out your editing. I thought to myself, this guy is nuts. Would Da Vinci contract out his painting???
But after listening to you, I started thinking…am I really Da Vinci. I went back and re-read E-Myth. The book stressed how difficult it is to run a business being the artist.
I have been documenting all my procedures and have been talking to someone about handing-off my editing. I’m going to change my BUSINESS MODEL!!!!
You left me with a great gold nugget." - Jeff Stultz, Kansas City
While I don't touch outsourcing in this 3 part video series, I will be talking about that when I come to a PVA near you, so come and see me, let's hang out and make our businesses better!
Today, though, I am calling attention to our friend, the internet. There are so many ways in which the internet can be used to improve our businesses (reading this blog is one of the best ways!). But when e-mail, facebook, and twitter become a distraction, an addiction even, we find that the internet can hurt our businesses more than the help we are receiving from it.

Hey Chris Jones, you are soooo right. But it is also soooo hard to shut off those interwebs! Its to the point now where I make a few cuts, then lean over to see whats going on – when I realize Im watching exclusive video of Michael Jackson and his kids on CNN I know Im wasting valuable time. So my solution is to SHUT the LAPTOP (my editing workstation isnt connected to the intertubes). Its crazy how much you get done withOUT the distraction.

you’re right BK, it’s cold turkey or nothing!
the same approach should be applied to so many aspects of performing in our business. we waste time when we invite distractions upon ourselves…and for what? mostly unimportant stuff.
Great advice Chris!
I’m reading the comments instead of working.
My name is Shane and I’m an internetaholic.
Good advice tho’ Chris. I’ve enjoyed the whole series.
Thanks for posting it.
