Today we’re talking about Nasty Clamps. No…they’re not like that. Get your mind right. These clamp accessories have a high tension spring clamp on one end, and a 1/4″ 20tpi bolt on the other. They’re connected by plastic modular tubing, allowing them to be molded however you might need.
The product was initially a DIY project by photographer Matthew Monroe…and has since grown into a full-fledged business.
These clamps are meant for lighter weight equipment, nothing more then a few pounds. However when used with equipment like a flash, LED light, shotgun mic, etc. they hold up extremely well, and will hold the position you place them in.
There are two accessories that can be purchased along with your Nasty Clamps. The first is a hot shoe adapter, which is extremely handy when using accessories that don’t include a 1/4″ thread (like the Rode Video Mic). You can also order additional pieces of the modular tubing to add length to your Nasty Clamp. This comes with a price however, because the longer the tubing, the less weight the clamp can hold. It’s just physics.
Price for the clamps are $44 for one, $117 for a pack of 3, and $190 for a pack of 5. They can be purchased directly from their website at http://www.nastyclamps.com
